Navoi

We went here to meet Malika's (Guli's youngest sister) family and see her over Navruz, or the old new year / spring holiday. They made sumalak, which is a chocolatey-hazel nutty type syrup made from a type of plant. We went to see Nurata, which has a nifty spring with some resident semi-phosphorescent fish and the remnants of one of Alexander the Great's forts. There wasn't much to see of that, it was pretty crumbly, unfortunately. It was super-windy on top, though. We also got prayed over and beat with a whip and a knife, but non-sinners such as myself did not require multiple swats. ;)
